February 26th Meeting
Our guest speaker is Mr. Guffrie Smith; he will do a presentation on the 40 Developmental Assets.
Secretary Sue Allision will not be able to attend. I ask a member to please volunteer to act as Secretary at the meeting.
In case of inclement weather we follow the CCPS closing policy. If school and/or afterschool activities are cancelled on the 26th our meeting will be cancelled too. Pray for Spring.

Greetings and Happy New Year;
I hope your new year has started out well. Our first meeting of the year is scheduled for January 22nd. At the January 22ndmeeting Dr. Rogers of the Health Department is scheduled to be our guest speaker. Additionally Sonia Wagner, President of SoMD CAN/College Access Network will address the membership regarding a SoMD/Can initiative on college scholarship applications. Check back here on January 18th to access the agenda, minutes from our last meeting and committee reports.
Please note CCCPTA has been without a Treasurer since 16 Dec; if all goes as planned the Executive Board will appoint a new Treasurer just before the General Membership meeting. The Budget & Membership reports below are as of 16 Dec.

Notes from the November 27th CCCPTA General Membership meeting:
At the CCCPTA meeting on November 27th we said farewell to our Treasurer Ms. Cawley and our Membership Chair Ms. Crunkleton; they stepped down to pursue other endeavors. It is a loss to CCCPTA and I will miss them but wish both the best in their new pursuits. Ms. Sherry Mervine (AES PTA) has volunteered to be the CCCPTA Membership Chair for the remainder of the year; thank you Sherry. Once again (2nd time in 4 months) CCCPTA is in search of a Treasurer. Please contact me at tracy_maggie@comcast.net if you or someone you know can fill this vacancy.
Another piece of good news/bad news: Ms. Althea Farmer (CCCPTA Area 1 VP) has been the CCCPTA representative at MDPTA since August 2006. She has served so well MDPTA selected her to chair the MDPTA policy committee. Congratulations Althea! Unfortunately as a MDPTA Committee chair she is not eligible to also represent the council. Our loss is MDPTA gain. Good news: Ms. Michelle Wolf (SMS PTSA) has agreed to represent CCCPTA at MDPTA; thank you Michelle.
Special thanks are in order to Mr. David Cole (HES PTA); he volunteered to chair an audit committee and an ad hoc committee to study and make recommendations to the Council on the Video Gaming Terminals referendum the Maryland General Assembly has placed on the November 2008 ballot.
Our guest speaker, Dr. Anne Mychalus from the Community Mediation Center of Calvert, presented a lively and informative presentation on the services provided by the Center. The centers website is http://www.calvert-mediation.org/
CCCPTA takes a break for the holidays. Our next meeting is January 22, 2008. Our guest speaker will be Dr. David L. Rogers, Calvert County Health officer.
